Wear OS Google Play Music Will Be Shut Down In Few Weeks
As a Google Play Music service, its surprising, area-based shutdown will begin next month, but wearable OS users have a few weeks left to use the SmartWatch app before it becomes unusable. Details of the latter were erased during Google’s announcement that the service had a December expiration date, and it went unnoticed – even Android Police did not select a recent post in which it is Here’s a look at some of Google’s wearable OS forums for the upcoming sunset.
The most important thing to note here is that you can easily transfer your Google Play music library to YouTube music on the mobile app, YouTube is not a software OS app to quickly replace music. Google has said in a forum post that it intends to improve YouTube music in the coming months but has no definite promise of an alternative app. I’m not sure I’d suggest you hold your breath for an alternative, as Google has removed the forum post that explains how to listen to music on your watch.
Once the Wear OS app is closed, Google says your watch will act as a remote to easily control music playing YouTube music on your Android or iOS phone. Since the early days of the OS, Google Play Music has allowed for a tough break compared to this broader functionality. You can download music on the watch and listen via Bluetooth and leave your phone at home, but only for a few weeks. To my knowledge, no other app allows this easily, so for now, this is a huge disadvantage for the platform.
